Police detectives are investigating a shooting that left a local man dead in Shreveport’s Cedar Grove neighborhood last night.
At approximately 8:35 p.m. last night patrol officers responded out to the 400 block of E. 74th Street relative to a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers found 42 year old Frank Giounes of Shreveport suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the chest. Giounes was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department where he was later pronounced deceased.
Detectives were dispatched to the scene and, upon further investigation, believe that Giounes and another man, identified as 48 year old Curtis Hines, were walking in the 400 block of E. 74th Street when an exchange of gunfire broke out between the two men and another group of male suspects there in the block. Giounes was struck by gunfire and the others, including Hines, fled the scene of the crime on foot. Within minutes of the shooting, responding patrol officers were able to locate Curtis Hines and took him into custody. Detectives have recovered two handguns they believed were used in this shooting and are working at this time to positively identify the other participants and take them into custody.
Investigators have charged Curtis Hines, of the 1000 block of Babylon Street in Shreveport, with one count each of illegal use of a weapon and possession of firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies. Hines was booked into the Shreveport City Jail. Anyone who has any information regarding this shooting is urged to call Shreveport Police detectives at 318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
