Man caught transporting over 100 pounds of pot

A traffic stop this morning on I-20 by the Bossier City Police Department’s Street Crimes Interdiction Unit resulted in the arrest of a Texas man and the seizure of more than 100 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $60,000 to $70,000 dollars

Officers arrested Roderick M. Gibson, 30, of Arlington, Texas after he was stopped for traffic violations on I-20 at I-220. A Bossier City police K-9 conducted an exterior search of Gibson’s 2007 Chevrolet Suburban and alerted officers of suspected narcotics inside the vehicle. Officers subsequently recovered 108 pounds of marijuana inside duffle bags that were stowed in the rear cargo area of the vehicle.

Officers arrested Gibson and booked him into the Bossier City Jail on charges of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, driving on roadway laned for traffic, obstruction of driver’s view, and no driver’s license on person. Gibson’s vehicle was also impounded.
