Shreveport detectives have charged a local man with the armed robbery of a Dollar Store in west Shreveport.
Investigators have charged 32-year-old Jeffrey Wayne Anderson with one count of armed robbery in connection with the robbery of the Family Dollar in the 3800 block of Linwood Avenue. Anderson, of the 1500 block of Alma Street in Shreveport, was arrested earlier this morning by detectives for an unrelated burglary and had been booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
At approximately 8:50 p.m. on Sunday, Shreveport police officers responded to a reported armed robbery at the Family Dollar in the 3800 block of Linwood Avenue. Upon arrival there, officers contacted a witness who told them a male suspect entered the store, produced a handgun, and demanded money from the clerk at gunpoint. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the robber fled the scene of the crime. No one was injured during the robbery.
Moments later, Caddo Parish Constable Eric Hatfield, who was assisting the patrolmen, attempted to stop a suspect fitting the description of the robber in the 4300 block of Linwood Avenue. When confronted by Constable Hatfield, the suspect fled on foot and was eventually able to evade capture. Armed by the information provided by Constable Hatfield, Shreveport Police detectives were able to identify Jeffrey Anderson as the suspect who they believe committed the armed robbery.
