A routine traffic stop turns into a bizarre find for police when they find a missing teenage girl riding in a man's car.
A Shreveport police officer may have saved a 13-year-old girl's life early Sunday morning. The patrol officer pulled over a man who ran a red light at the intersection of Linwood and Hollywood around 4 a.m. But what was a routine traffic stop turned into the discovery of a young girl riding in the front seat.
The girl's guardians were not aware that she had left their home, said Detective Marcus Hines of the Shreveport Police Department.
John Davis, 59, told officers he was taking the girl home, but they realized he was heading away from her house and towards his own. He was arrested.
Authorities say that the girl did not appear to be in any distress, but she did not know the man. The girl was taken to the police station and returned to her guardians unharmed.
Davis is now charged with one count of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
