A man believed to have shot his wife Sunday afternoon in west Shreveport has been caught in Desoto Parish.

At around 6:45 p.m. Shreveport officers were called to a shooting in the 5800 block of St. Vincent Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found 42-year old Tracey Brown suffering from two gunshot wounds, one to the chin and one to the arm. Brown, who was conscious and alert, told patrolmen her estranged husband, identified as 46-year old Ronnie D. Smith, started following her in a vehicle as she was driving on St. Vincent when he suddenly pulled up beside her and started firing shots. Brown was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives were able to positively identify Smith as the suspect who shot Brown. Based on all of the information gathered, investigators obtained an arrest warrant charging Smith with one count of illegal use of weapon from a moving vehicle.

Smith, who apparently has relatives in the Mansfield, Louisiana area, was taken into custody Sunday night by authorities in Desoto Parish. His bond has been set at $250,000.
