Detectives have charged a man arrested last week by police in connection with an armed robbery that occurred last September.
Just after 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, detectives working on the Robbery Intervention Detail were conducting surveillance at a convenience store near Youree Drive and Southfield Road when they observed a male suspect apparently casing the business. Based on these suspicious actions, the investigators stopped the man and immediately recognized him as the suspect who had robbed the Circle K in the 100 block of East Bert Kouns Industrial Loop in the early morning hours of Thursday.
The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Johnny Madison, was taken into custody without incident. As their investigation progressed, the detectives discovered stolen merchandise in Madison’s vehicle that had been taken from several retail stores in Shreveport. Johnny Madison, of the 200 block of W. 77th Street in Shreveport, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count each of simple robbery and felony shoplifting.
Investigators have now charged Madison with robbing the same Circle K earlier this year. On September 26, 2010, police believe he walked into the Circle K in the 100 block of East Bert Kouns Industrial Loop and, after threatening the clerk with a screwdriver, stole several cartons of cigarettes. One count of armed robbery was added to growing list of charges Madison faces.
