BATON ROUGE, LA — Louisiana ranks last in the nation when it comes to women's pay according to a new study from the U.S. Census.
According to the study, for every dollar a man earns a Louisiana woman is paid 77-cents.
That number is a main issue at today's Louisiana legislative Woman's Caucus Foundation Public Policy Leadership retreat in Baton Rouge.
“We have a great state but it's a state in which women are not reaping the benefits that we need to be reaping to have very rich and wonderful lives,” Dr. Beth Willinger, retired professor, Tulane, said.
The U.S. Census says Connecticut ranks first when comparing men and women salaries.
