Liquor bandit busted by camera surveillance

Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen says a Benton man was arrested Monday afternoon for stealing five bottles of alcohol from a grocery store in Benton over the past two weeks.

Darren D. Anderson, 34, of the 300 block of Caddo St. in Benton, admitted to Bossier detectives he stole three bottles of vodka on Sept. 9 from Willow Chute Grocery on Palmetto Road. He also admitted to stealing a bottle of Hennessey and a bottle of Remy Martin from the same grocery store on Sept. 17. Total cost of the stolen bottles of booze is more than $240.00.

Anderson frequented the store, and when employees viewed the store’s video footage of the crime, they recognized him as the culprit. Detectives also found Anderson to have three active warrants for his arrest.

Anderson was charged with theft of goods (misdemeanor), as well as on the three warrants of various charges. He was transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility for booking and has a bond of $9,050.
