Agents with the Caddo-Shreveport Narcotics Unit, with a little help from a Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office K-9, have taken a substantial amount of narcotics off of the streets.
Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator and Shreveport Police Chief Willie Shaw are pleased to announce that 13 ounces of powder cocaine are secured in an evidence locker instead of being sold out on the streets of our parish. At approximately 1:30 a.m. this morning, agents were conducting an ongoing investigation into the illegal distribution of narcotics when they contacted 33 year old Eric J. Burch at a local restaurant in the 6100 block of Financial Plaza. As part of their investigation, agents had received information that Burch was transporting a large quantity of cocaine.
After a Caddo Parish K-9 Unit made a positive alert indicative of the presence of illegal narcotics, the agents located approximately 13 ounces of powder cocaine concealed inside of a hidden compartment in the vehicle Burch was driving. The street value of the cocaine is estimated to be $40,000. Authorities also seized $1,936 in cash from him. Eric Burch, of the 600 block of Ebony Street in Laguna Vista, Texas, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of possession of over 200 grams of a Schedule II narcotic.
