Shreveport police shot an escaped inmate Thursday night.

Officers say it happened when 19-year-old Kory Gay rammed a police car.

Gay escaped from Ouachita Parish jail late last month.

The officer reportedly opened fire believing the teen would run him over.

The escapee was taken to a local hospital.
