Monday, February 20, 2012 - 11:37am

Eight people are now displaced, according to Shreveport fire officials.

All 8 residents were inside the house when they began to smell smoke, and the father claims he saw flames coming from a wall as they ran outside.

Firefighters say the house damaged next door was abandoned.

No injuries were reported.

At least one person is displaced after flames engulfed their home Monday morning.

Shreveport firefighters responded to a call for help on the 500 block of Wall Street in the Highlands District at around 10:50 a.m.

Crews contained the fire quickly, but not before the house was destroyed. A neighboring home was also damaged by the fire.

It is unknown how many people have been displaced or if anyone was home at the time of the fire.
