Wednesday, December 21, 2011 - 5:35pm

The Bossier City Fire Department responded this afternoon to a fire in the 2500 block of Belmont Boulevard that heavily damaged a house.

Fire crews were called to the scene at approximately 2:30 p.m. The first engine company arrived within three minutes and found flames and heavy smoke coming from the one story brick structure. The fire appears to have started in the kitchen and quickly spread into the attic.  It took fire firefighters approximately 15 minute to bring the fire under control.
The house sustained heavy damage as a result of the fire. A pickup truck that was parked in the driveway was also damaged due to the intense heat generated by the fire.

The five people who were inside the house at the time managed to escape unharmed. They tell fire department personnel that they’ll be staying with family members due to the extensive damaged.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
