Hurricane season is days away, and it's forecasted to be a busy one. All hurricane preparedness supplies will be tax-free this weekend.
Consider this weather the "calm before the storm" because starting June 1, it is hurricane season. Now is the time to stock up on your emergency supplies.
Be prepared with flashlights, extra batteries and battery-operated weather radios, said Sandy Davis, Director of Caddo-Bossier Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.
And there's good news this weekend, all those items will be tax-free in Louisiana on Saturday and Sunday. Getting an early start can also help you save some money and get everything you need while it is still in stock.
Even though northwest Louisiana is not in the direct path of most hurricanes, it is the spin-off storms that hit hard.
"The professional response certainly will be there. If more folks can take care of themselves, then the less dependent they become on some governmental agency to take care of them," said Davis.
As other cities get hit hard by tornadoes this week, saving a little money while buying donations may not be a bad idea either.
So, stock up while you can because it is supposed to be a busy hurricane season.
