A Plain Dealing woman drives drunk and wrecks her car into a Benton neighborhood ditch.
Courtney Glyn Matthews, 21, lost control of her vehicle and drove into a ditch. When deputies found her, she was asleep behind the wheel with the engine still running. There were three open bottles of beer in plain sight inside the vehicle.
Deputies woke Matthews up, but she refused to get out of the car or unlock the door. After deputies explained to her that she had to get out of the vehicle or they would remove her from the car, she stepped out. She showed clear signs of intoxication and performed poorly on the standard field sobriety test. A check on her driver’s license showed that it was suspended.
Matthews was arrested and taklen to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility where she submitted an Intoxilizer sample of .204%, nearly three times the legal limit. She was charged with her second DWI , resisting an officer, driving under suspension, careless operation and open container. Her bond was set at $3,800.
