Detectives investigating overnight killing

Shreveport Police detectives are working to identify and apprehend the suspect or suspects responsible for a late night shooting that claimed the life of a local man.

At approximately 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a reported shooting in the 3900 block of Flora Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located 38 year old Michael D. Miller suffering from several gunshot wounds. Miller, who was unresponsive, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives and crime scene investigators were dispatched and immediately began their investigation. Based on preliminary information gathered during the early stages of their inquiry, investigators believe a large group of people were gathered in the 3900 block of Flora Avenue drinking and playing dominoes when an unknown male suspect approached the victim and opened fire on him with a handgun, striking him multiple times. The motive for this murder is not clear at this time, but crime scene investigators were able to recover evidence from the scene of the crime and are working with detectives to identify the man who shot Michael Miller.
