Shreveport Police officers converged on a downtown bank this morning after receiving a report of an armed robbery in progress.

At approximately 11:52 a.m. today, patrolmen were dispatched to the Red River Bank in the 600 block of Market Street to an armed robbery. An armored car employee who was working just outside the bank reported to dispatchers that a man approached him with his hands in his pockets and told him to give him the money. The man then walked into the bank. Responding officers located the subject in the business and detained him without incident.

Detectives arrived on scene and transported the man to the Shreveport Police Complex where he was interviewed. Based information gathered during the preliminary stages of their inquiry, investigators now believe the man, who was not armed, never intended to rob anyone. He was subsequently released without being charged criminally.
