A 3-year old child died over the weekend after what appears to be a tragic accident.
On Sunday at around 12:32 p.m., Bowie County deputies were called to an injured child report on County Road 2149 near Maud. Officials say the child, Hunter Scott, was found by a family member under a heavy metal cooker, which had been turned over.
Scott had suffered a serious head injury and was flown to a nearby hospital. The child was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Officials tell KMSS no witnesses saw the accident, but it appears the child may have been climbing on the cooker and pulled it over onto himself. The cooker was mounted on three legs, which were not buried in the ground.
The investigation is ongoing.
