Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen says a Bossier City teenager was arrested Monday afternoon after he took four cans of beer from a store in Haughton without paying for them.
Tyler V. Mondello, 19, of the 5400 block of Bobbie Lane in Bossier City, was apprehended by a Bossier Sheriff’s deputy after he admitted to stealing four 16-ounce cans of Bud Lite beer from the CVS Pharmacy on Highway 80 in Haughton. The total cost of the beer was $8.00.
The deputy received an anonymous tip that Mondello entered the CVS with a backpack on and appeared suspicious. When Mondello exited the store, the deputy observed him put the backpack in the truck of his vehicle and drive off. When the deputy made contact with Mondello during a traffic stop a few minutes later, he admitted to taking the beer without paying for it.
“Stealing is unethical, it’s against the law, and it’s just wrong to take something from someone or a business that doesn’t belong to you,” said Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen. “I want young people to know there are consequences for theft, even if it’s only $8 worth of beer; it’s not a path they want to take. Think twice about shoplifting, robbery and theft…it’s not worth it, and you will get caught.”
Mondello was charged with theft of goods and being a minor in possession of alcoholic beverages and transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility; bond is pending.
