Bossier police amping up DWI enforcement for New Year's

Thursday, December 30, 2010 - 1:22pm

The Bossier City Police Department will be increasing its DWI enforcement for the News Years holiday to help keep city roads safe for residents and visitors. The department will deploy additional members of the department’s DWI Task Force during the overnight hours tonight and New Year’s Eve.

Officers assigned to the DWI Task Force patrol the streets of Bossier City in additional to the regular patrol officers. The task force has one goal in mind – to proactively seek out and arrest motorists who choose to drive impaired.

The Bossier City Police Department advises persons who choose to drink while celebrating the New Year holiday to play it safe and utilize a designated driver or call a taxi.

The BCPD DWI Task Force is put into operation at various times throughout the year and is funded by a grant from the United States Justice Department.
