A Natchitoches speedster was arrested Thursday for possessing drugs and a bullet proof vest.

Bossier Parish Deputies clocked his vehicle heading northbound on Highway 71 at 72 miles per hour in a 55 MPH zone.

Officials found a bag of marijuana on 41-year-old Raymond J. Hymes III. A search of his vehicle produced two cigars that Hymes admitted he was going to use to smoke the marijuana. The deputy also found body armor in his trunk, which is illegal to use or possess with the conviction of certain other crimes.

A check of Hymes’ record found he had a previous felony drug arrest in 2009, as well as an active warrant from the Shreveport Marshals Office.

Hymes was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding, unlawful possession of body armor and the fugitive warrant out of Shreveport. He was taken to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility for booking, and his bond is pending.
