Bossier City issues water boil following main break
A break in a water main at the intersection of Swan Lake Road and Shed Road caused residents and some businesses to lose water or experience low water pressure for several hours. The break occurred around 10 a.m. Tuesday when city water crews were attempting to replace a hydrant that had been damaged by a truck. During the work a valve on the water main to which the hydrant was attached broke, causing water to flow out of the line. Crews completed repairs and restored full water pressure to the affected area by 1a.m. Wednesday.
As with any major water main break, the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals has requested, as a precautionary measure, residents and businesses that lost water service or experienced low water pressure voluntarily boil their water before consuming it until the health department can test the water. The advisory covers an approximate 4 block radius around the Swan Lake Road/Shed Road Intersection. The advisory will remain in effect until the health department conducts a water test. The city will notify the media of the result via news release. The advisory pertains only to water used for consumption. Again the advisory is only a precautionary measure.
A more permanent repair on the line will be done tomorrow and some residents in the area may experience low water pressure for a time while the work is done.
