Battery plant fire, roof collapses in Shreveport

UPDATE 3:38 p.m.: Firefighters are still on the scene. 

As of this moment, the fire has not been contained.

Shreveport firefighters are working a major fire at an old battery plant on the 6600 block of Westport.

Officials said the roof collapsed at the plant and that the plant was already closed.

Our crew says 30 fire units are currently on the scene.

The fire is west of Shreveport Regional Airport between Pines Road and Bert Kouns.

KMSS has a crew on the scene and will give updates as they become available.
