Thursday, January 19, 2012 - 1:30pm

Officials have released the name of a woman killed in a three vehicle crash Wednesday in north Shreveport.

At around 2:10 p.m., Shreveport police were dispatched to the 3600 block of North Market Street near the intersection of Poleman Road to a major crash involving three vehicles. Upon arrival there, officers discovered that a southbound suv driven by 23-year old Brenda Guin of Mooringsport, Louisiana apparently crossed over into the northbound lanes of travel and struck two trucks heading north on North Market Street.

Guin was flown to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead. A child in that same vehicle was taken to a local hospital by the Shreveport Fire Department with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.

Crash investigators immediately responded to the scene and began recovering evidence, taking measurements, and interviewing witnesses. At this early stage of their investigation, it is not known why the SUV crossed over into oncoming traffic and their inquiry is ongoing.
