Police are investigating a two vehicle crash that claimed the life of a man in west Shreveport yesterday afternoon.
At approximately 2:44 p.m. on September 5, 2011. Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of Greenwood Road just eat of Jewella Avenue relative to major crash involving a motorcycle. Upon arrival there, officers discovered that a 2011 Chevrolet HHR operated by 50 year old Vivian Edwards of Shreveport was apparently pulling out onto Greenwood Road from a private lot when the vehicle struck a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle operated by an adult male. The male was subsequently transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department where he was later pronounced deceased. His name is not being released at this time pending notification of his next of kin.
Crash investigators were dispatched and, upon further investigation, believe Edwards was exiting a private lot and turned west on Greenwood Road across both lanes of travel and into the path of the motorcycle which was headed east on Greenwood Road. Officers issued Edwards a citation for failure to yield. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this crash but the investigation is ongoing at this time.
