Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen says an Elm Grove man was arrested Saturday afternoon on two counts of simple battery and one count of cruelty to a juvenile.

Bossier Sheriff’s deputies say Clarence McCoy, 18, of the 100 block of Thomas Jones Road, was taken into custody after he slapped and punched his girlfriend in the face, causing her to drop their 1 year old daughter. A male came into the room and tried to stop McCoy, but McCoy hit him in the face several times.

Deputies say the girlfriend had visible swelling on the left side of her face and a visible handprint on the right side of her face. The male who tried to intercede had a bloody nose and swelling to his forehead. McCoy, who deputies say committed the batteries on Friday, May 13, 2011, was located and arrested on Saturday, May 14, 2001, at a business in Bossier City.

McCoy was transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility and booked. His bond was set at $16,000.
