Alleged drunken driver in serious condition after motorcycle wreck

A Sibley man was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash late Monday night.

Troopers responded to the crash at around 11:40 pm, which happened on US Hwy 371 south of Sibley, LA in Webster Parish.

The crash involved a motorcycle, driven by 39-year old Perry Dewayne Ashley. The motorcycle was headed north bound on US Hwy 371 when Ashley lost control and left the right side of the roadway and overturned.

Ashley, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from his bike during the crash and was seriously injured. He was taken to a hospital in Shreveport.

Alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash. Ashley was charged with DWI, open container and careless operation.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
