It's been a painful month at the pump, but you wouldn't know it by looking at a surge in February car sales. That trend is especially noticeable at Orr Nissan in Bossier City, said Tammie LaBleu, Internet Director and Sales Manager. "In 25 days, we put in 194 units. Last year at this time in February we did 133, so that's how much the car business has increased," she said.
Car sales last month spiked to their highest levels in four years, according to industry reports released today. Nathan Hanson of Orr Nissan said it has a lot to do with people who have been holding onto their cars longer...but now need new ones. "In years past, we've gotten a lot of trade-ins with say 100, 100 thousand miles. Now we're seeing a lot more with like 130, 150 thousand miles," he said.
So what tops the list of must-haves when buying a new car? Good fuel efficiency, along with extra features. That's what sold Chelsa Taylor, who just bought a new car. "I have a lot more car and I'm extremely happy with the bells and whistles that I have now," she said.
