Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — Four additional resource officers will be added to various Bossier elementary school campuses.
The Bossier Parish School board voted Thursday to approve a recommendation to add armed sheriff deputies to help secure schools.
The four additional officers will cost the district $65,000 for the remainder of this year. This money is expected to come from the school general fund.
Spokeswoman for the school system Sonja Bailes said that “the four officers would rotate from different schools within their assigned areas.”“
Safety is priority for Bossier Schools,” said Bailes.
Currently, there are 13 resource officers in the middle and high schools throughout Bossier Parish, costing the school district more than a million dollars per year.
