Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — The Bossier City Police Department is warning local businesses that serve as local Western Union locations to be aware of a scam.
The scam involves someone calling the local businesses claiming to represent western union.The caller then proceeds to instruct the workers to run a test transaction on office machines using various numbers.
Three local businesses in the area have already been affected totaling around $900 each.
Bossier officials wanted to reinforce the importance of being on the look out for scams.
“We want local business to know that Western Union has stated to us that they do not do business like that,” said Mark Natale who represents Bossier City.
The calls originated from Orlando Florida, officials are still investigating.
