Emily Turner spent four years as a pitcher for the LSU softball team. In the fall of 2007, she joined the FOX team.

Turner racked up some major awards for her efforts on the diamond, including All-American honors in 2006. She had the opportunity to extend her playing career to the professional ranks, after being selected by the Philadelphia Force in the National Pro Fastpitch draft. Instead, she opted to start her new vocation, covering the big games rather than playing in them.
